The CNP roadmap

The CNP roadmap

CNP is progressing a development and delivery roadmap designed to take projects from early‑stage development through to long‑term operation.

Development phase

The development phase is focused on converting a site into a fully licensed, investment‑ready, ‘shovel‑ready’ nuclear asset.

Key activities include:

  • Securing the nuclear site licence, environmental permits and planning approvals.

  • Completing site preparation and enabling works.

  • Securing long‑term offtake arrangements.

  • Raising infrastructure finance.

  • Finalising commercial and delivery contracts.

  • Working with our community and stakeholders to ensure they are properly informed and appropriately consulted.

This phase is treated as a value‑creating stage, designed to de‑risk the project ahead of construction.

Construction phase

The construction phase focuses on delivery and commissioning of the reactor units using a modular build approach. Activities include:

  • Assembly and installation of reactor units.

  • Integration of grid, thermal and industrial interfaces.

  • Progressive commissioning and handover to operations.

Modular construction, factory build, and digital delivery approaches enable lessons learned from initial deployment to be applied across subsequent units, supporting efficient and repeatable delivery.

Operations phase

Once operational, the project delivers long‑life, always‑on low‑carbon power and heat, supporting industrial demand, energy security and long‑term infrastructure returns. Fleet deployment creates opportunities for efficiency gains, cost reduction and accelerated delivery across future projects.
